U-333 was a Type VIIC submarine of the Kriegsmarine. Nordseewerke, Emden laid her keel on 11 March 1940. She entered service on 25 August 1941, having been launched on 14 June 1941.

612 ships of the class were built. The class followed the Type UB III, Vetehinen class and was succeeded by the Type XXI (Late-war replacement).
