HMS Kanaris was a Type III Hunt-class destroyer built for the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number L53. Vickers-Armstrongs, High Walker laid her keel on 12 December 1940. She entered service on 27 July 1942, having been launched on 18 December 1941.

She displaced 1,050 long tons standard and 1,490 long tons at full load. She measured 85.3 m (280 ft) long with a beam of 11.4 m (37 ft). Her designed speed was 26 knots, and she carried a complement of 170.

Her main battery was four 102 mm (4 in) guns.

She served with the Royal Navy as HMS Hatherleigh. She then passed to the Hellenic Navy, serving as RHS Kanaris - ΒΠ Κανάρης from 27 July 1942. She was in commission for 3,326 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned in 1959.

She was broken up for scrap in 1960.
