HMS Effingham was a Hawkins-class cruiser heavy cruiser of the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number I98. She was named for Lord Howard of Effingham. HM Dockyard, Portsmouth laid her keel on 6 April 1917. She was launched on 8 June 1921.

She displaced 9,860 long tons standard and 12,800 long tons at full load. She measured 184.1 m (604 ft) long with a beam of 19.8 m (65 ft). Her designed speed was 30.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 690.

Her main battery was seven 190 mm (7.5 in) guns. Her machinery developed 65,000 shp.

She was in commission for 260 days of the Second World War.

She was wrecked on 18 May 1940, at 67°17′N 14°03′E.
