HMS Ilex was a I-class destroyer in service with the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number D61. She was named for Ilex. Her keel was laid at John Brown and Company, Clydebank, Scotland on 10 March 1936. She entered service on 7 July 1937, having been launched on 28 January 1937.

She was one of eleven ships of her class. The class followed the G and H-class destroyer and was succeeded by the Tribal-class destroyer (1936).

Displacement was 1,370 long tons standard and 1,888 long tons at full load. She measured 98.5 m (323 ft) long with a beam of 10.1 m (33 ft). Her designed speed was 35.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 145.

Her main battery was four 119 mm (4.7 in) guns. Her machinery developed 34,000 shp through two shafts.

She was in commission for 2,193 days of the Second World War.

She was broken up for scrap in 1946.
