HMS Thames was a River-class submarine in service with the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number N71. She was built by Vickers-Armstrongs, Barrow. She was launched on 26 February 1932.
Five ships of the class were built.
The boat displaced 2,165 long tons surfaced and 2,680 long tons submerged. She measured 105.2 m (345 ft) long with a beam of 8.5 m (28 ft). Her designed speed was 22 knots, and she carried a complement of 61. Her main battery was of 102 mm (4.0 in) calibre.
She was in commission for 326 days of the Second World War.
She was sunk on 23 July 1940 by mine. The wreck survives.
