Trento was a heavy cruiser of the Trento-class cruiser, operated by the Regia Marina. She was named for City of Trento. Her keel was laid at Cantiere navale fratelli Orlando, Livorno on 8 February 1925. Launched on 4 October 1927, she entered service on 3 April 1929.

Two ships of the class were built. The class followed the None and was succeeded by the Zara-class cruiser.

She displaced 13,334 long tons. She measured 197.0 m (646 ft) long with a beam of 20.6 m (68 ft). Her designed speed was 35.6 knots, and she carried a complement of 723.

Her main battery was eight 203 mm (8.0 in) guns. Her belt armour was 70 mm (2.8 in). She carried two aircraft. Her machinery developed 150,000 shp.

She was in commission for 2,193 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 18 October 1946.

She was sunk on 15 June 1942, at 36°10′N 18°40′E. The wreck survives.
