Jintsū was a Sendai-class cruiser, operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was named for Jinzū River. Her keel was laid at Kawasaki Shipyards, Kobe, Japan on 4 August 1922. She entered service on 31 July 1925, having been launched on 8 December 1923.
Three ships of the class were built. The class followed the Nagara-class cruiser and was succeeded by the Agano-class cruiser.
She displaced 5,195 long tons. She measured 162.8 m (534 ft) long with a beam of 14.2 m (47 ft). Her designed speed was 35.3 knots, and she carried a complement of 452.
Her main battery was seven 140 mm (5.5 in) guns. Her belt armour was 64 mm (2.5 in) and her deck 20 mm. She carried one aircraft.
She was in commission for 1,470 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 10 September 1943.
She was sunk on 13 July 1943, at 7°38′S 157°06′E. The wreck survives.
