Suzuya was a Mogami-class cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She carried the pennant number 1934. She was named for Suzuya River in Karafuto. Yokosuka Naval Arsenal laid her keel on 11 December 1933. Launched on 20 November 1934, she entered service on 31 October 1937.

She was one of four ships of her class. The class followed the Takao-class cruiser and was succeeded by the Tone-class cruiser.

She displaced 8,500 long tons. She measured 200.6 m (658 ft) long with a beam of 20.2 m (66 ft). Her designed speed was 37 knots, and she carried a complement of 850.

Her main battery was ten 200 mm (7.9 in) guns. She carried three aircraft.

She was in commission for 1,937 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 20 December 1944.

She was sunk on 25 October 1944, at 11°45′N 126°11′E. The wreck survives.
