Pluton was a cruiser of the Marine Nationale. She was named for Pluto. Arsenal de Lorient laid her keel on 16 April 1928. She entered service on 25 January 1932, having been launched on 10 April 1929.

Displacement was 5,216 long tons standard and 6,116 long tons at full load. She measured 152.5 m (500 ft) long with a beam of 15.5 m (51 ft). Her designed speed was 30 knots, and she carried a complement of 513.

Her main battery was four 139 mm (5.5 in) guns. Her machinery developed 57,000 shp.

She was in commission for 12 days of the Second World War.

She was sunk on 13 September 1939 by accident. The wreck survives.
