Admiral Hipper was a Admiral Hipper-class cruiser built for the Kriegsmarine. The ship was named after Admiral Franz von Hipper. Her keel was laid at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg on 6 July 1935. Launched on 6 February 1937, she entered service on 29 April 1939.

Her class ran to four ships. The class followed the Deutschland-class cruiser and was succeeded by the P-class cruiser.

She displaced 15,915 long tons standard and 18,200 long tons at full load. She measured 202.8 m (665 ft) long with a beam of 21.3 m (70 ft). Her designed speed was 32 knots, and she carried a complement of 1,382.

Her main battery was eight 203 mm (8.0 in) guns. She carried three aircraft. Her machinery developed 132,000 shp.

She was in commission for 2,071 days of the Second World War.

She was scuttled on 3 May 1945. The wreck survives.
