HNLMS UD-5 was a O 21-class submarine in service with the Royal Netherlands Navy. Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij, Rotterdam laid her keel on 3 August 1939. She entered service on 30 January 1942, having been launched on 26 September 1941.

Seven ships of the class were built. The class followed the O 19-class submarine and was succeeded by the Dolfijn-class submarine.

The boat displaced 990 long tons surfaced and 1,205 long tons submerged. She measured 77.7 m (255 ft) long with a beam of 6.8 m (22 ft). Her designed speed was 19.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 39.

Her main battery was four 533 mm (21 in) guns.

She served with the Royal Netherlands Navy as HNLMS O 27 until 14 May 1940. She then passed to the Kriegsmarine, serving as UD-5 from 30 January 1942. She then passed to the Royal Netherlands Navy, serving as HNLMS O 27 from 13 July 1945. She was in commission for 1,504 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 14 November 1959.

She was broken up for scrap in 1961.
