HMCS Prince David was a cruiser, operated by the Royal Canadian Navy. She carried the pennant number F89. Her keel was laid at Cammell Laird & Co., Birkenhead, UK in 1929. She entered service on 28 December 1940, having been launched on 12 February 1930.

Displacement was 5,645 long tons. She measured 117.3 m (385 ft) long with a beam of 17.4 m (57 ft). Her designed speed was 22 knots, and she carried a complement of 414. Her main battery was of 127 mm (5 in) calibre.

Her machinery developed 19,300 ihp.
