HMS Ajax was a Leander-class cruiser (1931) light cruiser built for the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number 22. Vickers Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness laid her keel on 7 February 1933. Launched on 1 March 1934, she entered service on 3 June 1935.
She displaced 7,270 long tons standard and 9,740 long tons at full load. She measured 169.1 m (555 ft) long with a beam of 17.1 m (56 ft). Her designed speed was 32.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 550. Her main battery was of 152 mm (6.0 in) calibre.
Her machinery developed 72,000 shp.
She was in commission for 2,193 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned in February 1948. She recommissioned on 11 January 1938.
She was broken up for scrap in 1949.
