HMS Royal Oak was a Revenge-class battleship of the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number 08. She was named for Royal Oak. Devonport Royal Dockyard laid her keel on 15 January 1914. She entered service on 1 May 1916, having been launched on 17 November 1914.

She was one of six ships of her class. The class followed the Queen Elizabeth-class battleship and was succeeded by the N3-class battleship.

She displaced 29,970 long tons standard and 31,130 long tons at full load. She measured 189.0 m (620 ft) long with a beam of 26.8 m (88 ft). Her designed speed was 22 knots.

Her main battery was eight 381 mm (15 in) guns in four twin mountings. Her machinery developed 40,000 shp through four shafts.

She was in commission for 43 days of the Second World War.

She was sunk on 14 October 1939, at 58°56′N 2°59′W. The wreck survives.
