HMS Sheffield was a Town-class cruiser (1936) light cruiser built for the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number C24. The ship was named after Sheffield. Her keel was laid at Vickers-Armstrongs, High Walker on 31 January 1935. She entered service on 25 August 1937, having been launched on 23 July 1936.
She displaced 9,100 long tons standard and 11,350 long tons at full load. She measured 180.1 m (591 ft) long with a beam of 18.9 m (62 ft). Her designed speed was 32 knots, and she carried a complement of 748. Her main battery was of 152 mm (6.0 in) calibre.
She carried three aircraft. Her machinery developed 75,000 shp.
She was in commission for 2,193 days of the Second World War.
She was broken up for scrap in 1967.
