Ōi was a Kuma-class cruiser light cruiser, operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The ship was named after Ōi River. Kawasaki Shipbuilding, Kobe, Japan laid her keel on 24 November 1919. She entered service on 10 October 1921, having been launched on 15 July 1920.

She was one of five ships of her class. The class followed the Tenryū-class cruiser and was succeeded by the Nagara-class cruiser.

Displacement was 5,100 long tons. She measured 152.4 m (500 ft) long with a beam of 14.2 m (47 ft). Her designed speed was 36 knots, and she carried a complement of 450.

Her main battery was seven 140 mm (5.5 in) guns. Her belt armour was 64 mm (2.5 in) and her deck 29 mm. She carried one aircraft. Her machinery developed 90,000 shp.

She was in commission for 1,836 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 10 September 1944.

She was sunk on 19 July 1944 by torpedo, at 13°12′N 114°52′E. The wreck survives.
