Kashi was a Matsu-class destroyer escort destroyer built for the Imperial Japanese Navy. She carried the pennant number 1944. She was named for Live oak. Fujinagata Shipyards, Osaka laid her keel on 5 May 1944. She was launched on 13 August 1944.

Her class ran to 18 ships. The class followed the Ōtori-class torpedo boat.
