Kasumi was a Asashio-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She carried the pennant number 1937. Her keel was laid at Uraga Dock Company on 1 December 1936. She entered service on 28 June 1939, having been launched on 18 November 1937.

Her class ran to ten ships. The class followed the Shiratsuyu-class destroyer and was succeeded by the Kagerō-class destroyer.

She displaced 2,370 long tons. She measured 118.3 m (388 ft) long with a beam of 10.3 m (34 ft). Her designed speed was 34.9 knots, and she carried a complement of 230.

Her main battery was six 127 mm (5 in) guns. Her machinery developed 51,000 shp.

She was in commission for 2,078 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 10 May 1945.

She was sunk on 7 April 1945, at 52°00′N 177°40′E. The wreck survives.
