USS Bassett was a destroyer escort of the Charles Lawrence-class high speed transport, operated by the United States Navy. She carried the pennant number DE-672. She was named for Edgar R. Bassett. Her keel was laid at Consolidated Steel Corporation, Orange, Texas on 28 November 1943. Launched on 15 January 1944, she entered service on 23 February 1945.

She displaced 1,400 long tons. She measured 93.3 m (306 ft) long with a beam of 11.0 m (36 ft). Her designed speed was 24 knots, and she carried a complement of 186.

Her main battery was one 127 mm (5 in) guns.

She served with the United States Navy as USS Bassett until 26 November 1957. She was in commission for 191 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 29 April 1946. She recommissioned on 7 December 1950. She was struck from the register on 1 May 1967.
