U-880 was a Type IXC/40 submarine built for the Kriegsmarine. Her keel was laid at DeSchiMAG AG Weser, Bremen on 17 July 1943. She entered service on 11 May 1944, having been launched on 10 February 1944.

142 ships of the class were built. The class followed the Type I and was succeeded by the Type XXI.
