U-1222 was a Type IXC/40 submarine built for the Kriegsmarine. Deutsche Werft AG, Hamburg laid her keel on 2 November 1942. She entered service on 1 September 1943, having been launched on 9 June 1943.
She was one of 142 ships of her class. The class followed the Type I and was succeeded by the Type XXI.
