HMS Orwell was a O-class destroyer in service with the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number G98. Her keel was laid at Thornycroft (Southampton) on 20 May 1940. Launched on 2 April 1942, she entered service on 17 October 1942.

She was one of eight ships of her class. The class followed the Ersatz Yorck-class battlecruiser.

Displacement was 1,610 long tons standard and 2,300 long tons at full load. She measured 105.2 m (345 ft) long with a beam of 10.7 m (35 ft). Her designed speed was 37 knots, and she carried a complement of 176. Her main battery was of 102 mm (4.0 in) calibre.

Her machinery developed 40,000 shp.

She was in commission for 1,051 days of the Second World War.

She was broken up for scrap in 1965.
