HNLMS Java was a Java-class cruiser in service with the Royal Netherlands Navy. She carried the pennant number 1921. Koninklijke Maatschappij de Schelde laid her keel on 31 May 1916. She was launched on 6 August 1921.

Two ships of the class were built. The class followed the Holland class and was succeeded by the HNLMS De Ruyter (1935).

She displaced 6,670 long tons standard and 8,339 long tons at full load. She measured 155.3 m (510 ft) long with a beam of 16 m (52 ft). Her designed speed was 31 knots, and she carried a complement of 525.

Her main battery was ten 150 mm (5.9 in) guns. She carried two aircraft.

She was in commission for 909 days of the Second World War.

She was sunk on 26 February 1942 by torpedo, at 6°00′S 112°05′E. The wreck survives.
