HNLMS O 12 was a O 12-class submarine built for the Royal Netherlands Navy. Her keel was laid at Koninklijke Maatschappij De Schelde, Vlissingen on 20 October 1928. She entered service on 20 July 1931, having been launched on 8 November 1930.

She was one of four ships of her class. The class followed the O 9 class and was succeeded by the HNLMS O 16.

The boat displaced 548 long tons surfaced and 715 long tons submerged. She measured 60.4 m (198 ft) long with a beam of 5.5 m (18 ft). Her designed speed was 15 knots, and she carried a complement of 31.

Her main battery was two 40 mm (1.6 in) guns.

She served with the Royal Netherlands Navy as O 12 until 14 May 1940. She then passed to the Kriegsmarine, serving as UD-2 from 30 January 1943. She was in commission for 781 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 6 July 1944.

She was scuttled on 3 May 1945, at 8°40′N 111°40′E. The wreck survives.
