Kiso was a Kuma-class cruiser, operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was named for Kiso River. Her keel was laid at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nagasaki on 10 June 1919. Launched on 14 December 1920, she entered service on 4 May 1921.

Her class ran to five ships. The class followed the Tenryū-class cruiser and was succeeded by the Nagara-class cruiser.

She displaced 5,100 long tons. She measured 152.4 m (500 ft) long with a beam of 14.2 m (47 ft). Her designed speed was 36 knots, and she carried a complement of 450.

Her main battery was seven 140 mm (5.5 in) guns. Her belt armour was 64 mm (2.5 in) and her deck 29 mm. She carried one aircraft.

She was in commission for 1,937 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 20 December 1944.

She was sunk on 13 November 1944, at 14°35′N 120°50′E. The wreck survives.
