USS Franklin D. Roosevelt was a Midway-class aircraft carrier, operated by the United States Navy. She was named for Franklin D. Roosevelt. Her keel was laid at New York Naval Shipyard on 1 December 1943. Launched on 29 April 1945, she entered service on 27 October 1945.
Three ships of the class were built. The class followed the Essex-class aircraft carrier and was succeeded by the United States-class aircraft carrier.
Displacement was 45,000 long tons. She measured 295.1 m (968 ft) long with a beam of 34.4 m (113 ft). Her designed speed was 33 knots, and she carried a complement of 4,104. Her main battery was of 127 mm (5 in) calibre.
She carried 137 aircraft.
She was decommissioned on 23 April 1954. She recommissioned on 6 April 1956. She was struck from the register on 1 October 1977.
She was broken up for scrap on 3 May 1978.
