Giovanni delle Bande Nere was a Giussano-class cruiser built for the Regia Marina. The ship was named after Giovanni dalle Bande Nere. Her keel was laid at Regio Cantiere di Castellammare di Stabia on 31 October 1928. She entered service on 1 January 1931, having been launched on 27 April 1930.

She was one of four ships of her class.

She displaced 5,130 long tons standard and 6,844 long tons at full load. She measured 169.3 m (555 ft) long with a beam of 15.5 m (51 ft). Her designed speed was 36.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 520.

Her main battery was eight 152 mm (6.0 in) guns. Her belt armour was 24 mm (0.9 in) and her deck 20 mm. She carried two aircraft. Her machinery developed 95,000 shp.

She was in commission for 943 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 1 April 1942.

She was sunk on 1 April 1942, at 38°43′N 15°01′E. The wreck survives.
