Maxim Gorky was a Kirov-class cruiser of the Soviet Navy. The ship was named after Maxim Gorky. Her keel was laid at Ordzhonikidze Yard, Leningrad on 20 December 1936. She entered service on 12 December 1940, having been launched on 30 April 1938.
Her class ran to six ships. The class followed the Admiral Nakhimov-class cruiser and was succeeded by the Chapayev-class cruiser.
She displaced 8,048 long tons standard and 9,574 long tons at full load. She measured 191.4 m (628 ft) long with a beam of 17.7 m (58 ft). Her designed speed was 36.7 knots, and she carried a complement of 963. Her main battery was of 180 mm (7.1 in) calibre.
Her belt armour was 70 mm (2.8 in) and her deck 50 mm. She carried two aircraft. 129,750 shp drove two shafts.
She was in commission for 1,725 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 17 February 1956.
She was broken up for scrap on 18 April 1959.
