USS Cooper was a Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer, operated by the United States Navy. She was named for Elmer Glenn Cooper. Her keel was laid at Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Company on 30 August 1943. She entered service on 27 March 1944, having been launched on 9 February 1944.

Her class ran to 54 ships. The class followed the Fletcher-class destroyer and was succeeded by the Gearing-class destroyer.

Displacement was 2,200 long tons. She measured 114.6 m (376 ft) long with a beam of 12.2 m (40 ft). Her designed speed was 34 knots, and she carried a complement of 336.

Her main battery was six 127 mm (5 in) guns.

She was in commission for 251 days of the Second World War.

She was sunk on 3 December 1944 by torpedo, at 10°54′N 124°36′E. The wreck survives.
