Hokaze was a Minekaze-class destroyer, operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy. Her keel was laid at Maizuru Naval Arsenal on 30 November 1920. She entered service on 22 December 1921, having been launched on 12 July 1921.

Twelve ships of the class were built. The class followed the Momi-class destroyer and was succeeded by the Wakatake-class destroyer.

She displaced 1,215 long tons standard and 1,345 long tons at full load. She measured 102.6 m (337 ft) long with a beam of 8.9 m (29 ft). Her designed speed was 39 knots, and she carried a complement of 154. Her main battery was of 120 mm (4.7 in) calibre.

She was in commission for 1,836 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 10 September 1944.

She was sunk on 6 July 1944 by torpedo, at 3°24′N 125°28′E. The wreck survives.
