USS James E. Craig was a Buckley-class destroyer escort in service with the United States Navy. She was named for James Edwin Craig. Charleston Navy Yard laid her keel on 15 April 1943. She entered service on 11 November 1943, having been launched on 22 July 1943.

Her class ran to 98 ships. The class followed the Evarts-class destroyer escort and was succeeded by the Cannon-class destroyer escort.

Displacement was 1,740 long tons. She measured 93.3 m (306 ft) long with a beam of 11.3 m (37 ft). Her designed speed was 23 knots, and she carried a complement of 213.

Her main battery was eight 20 mm (0.8 in) guns.

She was in commission for 661 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 2 July 1946. She was struck from the register on 30 June 1968.

She was expended as a target in February 1969. The wreck survives.
