HMS Firedrake was a F-class destroyer built for the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number H79. She was named for firedrake. Her keel was laid at Parsons Marine Steam Turbine Company, Wallsend on 5 July 1933. She entered service on 30 May 1935, having been launched on 28 June 1934.

She was one of eleven ships of her class. The class followed the C and D-class destroyer and was succeeded by the G and H-class destroyer.

Displacement was 1,405 long tons. She measured 100.3 m (329 ft) long with a beam of 10.1 m (33 ft). Her designed speed was 35.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 145.

Her main battery was four 119 mm (4.7 in) guns. Her machinery developed 36,000 shp.

She was in commission for 1,203 days of the Second World War.

She was sunk on 17 December 1942, at 50°50′N 25°15′W. The wreck survives.
