Amatsukaze was a Kagerō-class destroyer built for the Imperial Japanese Navy. She carried the pennant number 1939. Her keel was laid at Maizuru Naval Arsenal on 14 February 1939. She entered service on 26 October 1940, having been launched on 19 October 1939.
Her class ran to 19 ships. The class followed the Asashio-class destroyer and was succeeded by the Yūgumo-class destroyer.
She displaced 2,490 long tons. She measured 118.5 m (389 ft) long with a beam of 10.8 m (35 ft). Her designed speed was 35.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 240.
Her main battery was six 127 mm (5 in) guns.
She was in commission for 1,749 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 10 August 1945.
She was scuttled on 10 April 1945. The wreck survives.
