USS Doherty was a Evarts class destroyer escort, operated by the United States Navy. The ship was named after John Joseph Doherty. Her keel was laid at Mare Island Navy Yard on 28 February 1942. She entered service on 6 February 1943, having been launched on 29 August 1942.
67 ships of the class were built. The class followed the N/A and was succeeded by the Buckley-class destroyer escort.
Displacement was 1,430 long tons. She measured 86.3 m (283 ft) long with a beam of 10.7 m (35 ft). Her designed speed was 19 knots, and she carried a complement of 198.
