HMS Sturgeon was a S-class submarine, operated by the Royal Navy. Her keel was laid at Chatham Dockyard on 3 January 1931. Launched on 8 January 1932, she entered service on 27 February 1933.
She was one of 111 ships of her class.
The boat displaced 640 long tons surfaced and 935 long tons submerged. She measured 61.6 m (202 ft) long with a beam of 7.3 m (24 ft). Her designed speed was 13.8 knots, and she carried a complement of 36.
Her main battery was one 76 mm (3 in) guns.
She served with the Royal Navy as Sturgeon until January 1946. She then passed to the Royal Netherlands Navy, serving as HNLMS Zeehond from 11 October 1943. She was in commission for 2,885 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 14 September 1945. She recommissioned on 17 November 1945.
