Ro-39 was a submarine of the Kaichū type submarine (K6 subclass) of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Her keel was laid at Sasebo Naval Arsenal, Sasebo, Japan on 8 August 1942. Launched on 6 March 1943, she entered service on 12 September 1943.

The boat displaced 1,115 long tons surfaced and 1,447 long tons submerged. She measured 80.5 m (264 ft) long with a beam of 7 m (23 ft). Her designed speed was 19.8 knots.

Her main battery was one 76 mm (3 in) guns. Her machinery developed 4,200 bhp.

She was in commission for 229 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 30 April 1944.

She was sunk on 1 February 1944, at 9°24′N 170°32′E. The wreck survives.
