Ro-48 was a submarine of the Kaichū type submarine (K6 subclass) in service with the Imperial Japanese Navy. Mitsubishi, Kobe, Japan laid her keel on 17 March 1943. She entered service on 31 March 1944, having been launched on 15 October 1943.

The boat displaced 1,115 long tons surfaced and 1,447 long tons submerged. She measured 80.5 m (264 ft) long with a beam of 7 m (23 ft). Her designed speed was 19.8 knots.

Her main battery was one 76 mm (3 in) guns. Her machinery developed 4,200 bhp.

She was in commission for 196 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 10 October 1944.

She was sunk on 19 July 1944, at 13°01′N 151°58′E. The wreck survives.
