HMS Doris was a V-class submarine built for the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number P84. She was named for Vineyard. Her keel was laid at Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness, England on 21 May 1943. She entered service on 1 August 1944, having been launched on 8 May 1944.
30 ships of the class were built. The class followed the Nelson-class battleship and was succeeded by the Lion-class battleship.
The boat displaced 545 long tons surfaced and 740 long tons submerged. She measured 62.3 m (204 ft) long with a beam of 4.9 m (16 ft). Her designed speed was 11.2 knots, and she carried a complement of 42.
Her main battery was one 76 mm (3.0 in) guns.
