HMS Vigorous was a V-class submarine, operated by the Royal Navy. She carried the pennant number P74. Her keel was laid at Vickers Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness on 14 December 1942. Launched on 15 October 1943, she entered service on 13 January 1944.

Her class ran to 30 ships. The class followed the Nelson-class battleship and was succeeded by the Lion-class battleship.

The boat displaced 545 long tons surfaced and 740 long tons submerged. She measured 62.2 m (204 ft) long with a beam of 4.9 m (16 ft). Her designed speed was 11.2 knots, and she carried a complement of 33.

Her main battery was one 76 mm (3 in) guns.

She was in commission for 598 days of the Second World War.

She was broken up for scrap on 23 December 1949.
