S-4 was a submarine of the S-class submarine (Series IX-bis), operated by the Soviet Navy. Her keel was laid at Baltic Shipyard, Leningrad on 3 January 1936. She entered service on 27 November 1939, having been launched on 17 September 1936.
She was one of 111 ships of her class.
The boat displaced 842 long tons surfaced and 1,073 long tons submerged. She measured 77.8 m (255 ft) long with a beam of 6.4 m (21 ft). Her designed speed was 18.9 knots, and she carried a complement of 45.
She was in commission for 1,948 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 31 March 1945.
She was sunk on 6 January 1945 by torpedo. The wreck survives.
