USS Forrest was a Gleaves-class destroyer, operated by the United States Navy. She was named for Dulany Forrest. Boston Navy Yard laid her keel on 6 January 1941. Launched on 14 June 1941, she entered service on 13 January 1942.
66 ships of the class were built. The class followed the Benson-class destroyer and was succeeded by the Fletcher-class destroyer.
She displaced 1,630 long tons. She measured 106.1 m (348 ft) long with a beam of 11.0 m (36 ft). Her designed speed was 37.4 knots, and she carried a complement of 276.
Her main battery was five 127 mm (5 in) guns.
She was in commission for 1,328 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 30 November 1945. She was struck from the register on 19 December 1945.
