USS Whitman was a Evarts-class destroyer escort of the United States Navy. Mare Island Navy Yard laid her keel on 7 September 1942. She entered service on 3 July 1943, having been launched on 19 January 1943.

She was one of 67 ships of her class. The class followed the N/A and was succeeded by the Buckley-class destroyer escort.

Displacement was 1,140 long tons. She measured 88.1 m (289 ft) long with a beam of 10.7 m (35 ft). Her designed speed was 19 knots, and she carried a complement of 198. Her main battery was of 76 mm (3.0 in) calibre.
