HMCS Portage was a destroyer escort of the Algerine-class minesweeper of the Royal Canadian Navy. She carried the pennant number J331. The ship was named after Portage la Prairie. Her keel was laid at Port Arthur Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Port Arthur on 23 May 1942. Launched on 21 November 1942, she entered service on 22 October 1943.
She was one of 14 ships of her class. The class followed the Bangor-class minesweeper and was succeeded by the Ton-class minesweeper.
Displacement was 1,030 long tons standard and 1,325 long tons at full load. She measured 68.6 m (225 ft) long with a beam of 10.7 m (35 ft). Her designed speed was 16.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 85. Her main battery was of 102 mm (4.0 in) calibre.
2,400 ihp drove two shafts.
She was in commission for 681 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 31 July 1946. She recommissioned in 1947.
She was broken up for scrap in 1961.
