Legionario was a Soldati-class destroyer, operated by the Regia Marina. She was named for Legionary. O.T.O., Livorno laid her keel on 21 October 1940. She was launched on 16 April 1941.
17 ships of the class were built. The class followed the Oriani-class destroyer and was succeeded by the Comandanti Medaglie d'Oro-class destroyer.
She displaced 1,850 long tons standard and 2,550 long tons at full load. She measured 106.7 m (350 ft) long with a beam of 10.2 m (33 ft). Her designed speed was 33 knots, and she carried a complement of 206.
