I-59 was a submarine of the Kaidai-class submarine (KD3B Type) in service with the Imperial Japanese Navy. Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, Yokosuka, Japan laid her keel on 25 March 1927. She entered service on 31 March 1930, having been launched on 25 March 1929.
She was one of 20 ships of her class.
The boat displaced 1,800 long tons surfaced and 2,300 long tons submerged. She measured 101 m (331 ft) long with a beam of 8 m (26 ft). Her designed speed was 20 knots, and she carried a complement of 60.
Her main battery was one 120 mm (4.7 in) guns. Her machinery developed 6,800 bhp.
She was in commission for 2,193 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 15 November 1933. She recommissioned in 1934. She was struck from the register on 30 November 1945.
She was scuttled on 1 April 1946, at 0°15′N 86°50′E. The wreck survives.
