I-52 was a submarine of the Kaidai-class submarine (Type II) built for the Imperial Japanese Navy. She carried the pennant number 1923. Her keel was laid at Kure Naval Arsenal, Kure, Japan on 14 February 1922. She entered service on 20 May 1925, having been launched on 12 June 1923.

20 ships of the class were built.

The boat displaced 1,500 long tons surfaced and 2,500 long tons submerged. She measured 100.8 m (331 ft) long with a beam of 7.6 m (25 ft). Her designed speed was 21.5 knots, and she carried a complement of 58.

Her main battery was one 120 mm (4.7 in) guns.

She was in commission for 1,065 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 14 July 1942. She was struck from the register on 1 August 1942.

She was broken up for scrap on 1 August 1942.
