USS Somali was a frigate of the Cannon-class destroyer escort built for the United States Navy. Her keel was laid at Dravo Corporation, Wilmington, Delaware on 23 October 1943. She was launched on 12 February 1944.
She was one of 79 ships of her class. The class followed the Buckley-class destroyer escort and was succeeded by the Edsall-class destroyer escort.
Displacement was 1,240 long tons. She measured 93.3 m (306 ft) long with a beam of 11.0 m (36 ft). Her designed speed was 21 knots, and she carried a complement of 216. Her main battery was of 76 mm (3.0 in) calibre.
She served with the United States Navy as USS Somali (DE-111) until 14 May 1952. She then passed to the Marine Nationale, serving as FFL Somali (T-53) from 9 April 1944. She then passed to the Marine Nationale, serving as Somali (T-23) from 14 October 1946. She was in commission for 2,704 days of the Second World War. She was struck from the register on 14 May 1952.
She was transferred on 31 August 1972.
