USS Herbert C. Jones was a Edsall-class destroyer escort, operated by the United States Navy. She was named for Herbert C. Jones. Consolidated Steel Corporation, Orange, Texas laid her keel on 30 November 1942. Launched on 19 January 1943, she entered service on 21 July 1943.

78 ships of the class were built. The class followed the Cannon-class destroyer escort and was succeeded by the Rudderow-class destroyer escort.

Displacement was 1,253 long tons standard and 1,590 long tons at full load. She measured 93.3 m (306 ft) long with a beam of 11.2 m (37 ft). Her designed speed was 21 knots, and she carried a complement of 209.

Her main battery was three 76 mm (3 in) guns.
