USS Chatelain was a Edsall-class destroyer escort in service with the United States Navy. The ship was named after Hubert Paul Chatelain. Consolidated Steel Corporation, Orange, Texas laid her keel on 25 January 1943. Launched on 21 April 1943, she entered service on 22 September 1943.
She was one of 78 ships of her class. The class followed the Cannon-class destroyer escort and was succeeded by the Rudderow-class destroyer escort.
She displaced 1,253 long tons standard and 1,590 long tons at full load. She measured 93.3 m (306 ft) long with a beam of 11.2 m (37 ft). Her designed speed was 21 knots, and she carried a complement of 209.
Her main battery was three 76 mm (3 in) guns.
She was in commission for 711 days of the Second World War. She was decommissioned on 14 June 1946. She was struck from the register on 1 August 1973.
She was broken up for scrap on 24 June 1974.
