USS Grand Island was a destroyer escort of the Tacoma-class frigate in service with the United States Navy. The ship was named after City of Grand Island. She was built by Kaiser Cargo, Inc., Richmond, California. Launched on 19 February 1944, she entered service on 27 May 1944.

She was one of 76 ships of her class. The class followed the Asheville-class patrol frigate and was succeeded by the none.

She displaced 2,415 long tons. She measured 92.3 m (303 ft) long with a beam of 11.3 m (37 ft). Her designed speed was 20 knots, and she carried a complement of 190. Her main battery was of 76 mm (3.0 in) calibre.
